Celebrate Father’s Day with the whole family at our ever-popular Scampagnata picnic, returning on June 15th 2025. This flagship event continues to be a highlight of the AVC calendar, and is beloved by generations who grew up enjoying its unique charm.
Join us once again in Abergavenny for a fun-filled day, no previous attendance at an AVC event is needed – everyone is welcome. Come early, set up camp for the day, and don’t hold back on your picnic feast – we say, the more food, the merrier!
The Scampagnata is a true family celebration with something for everyone:
- Fun-filled children’s games to keep the little ones smiling
- An bouncy castle for non-stop excitement
- A Tug-o-War for the brave and bold
- Our much-loved Bocce tournament, open to all skill levels
- Raffle prizes with plenty of chances to win something special

THE PLAN FOR THE DAY
For those who know the routine, you’ll feel right at home. For newcomers – here’s what to expect:
- Pay the committee member at the gate upon arrival.
- Choose your parking and picnic spot in the field – tables, gazebos, and garden furniture are all welcome.
- You’re free to bring your own food and drink. BBQs are fine too, but please don’t place them directly on the grass – we want to keep the field in good shape.
- Event announcements will be made over the loudspeaker throughout the day.
- Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed in the field.
- Please park efficiently to make space for all attendees.
- Take all rubbish with you when you leave – let’s keep the site clean and green.
