In October 2014, Walter Belli suffered a serious biking accident in Austria, leaving him paralysed from the neck down.

He is currently undergoing an intensive rehabilitation and treatment programme in Imola (Italy) and requires 24-7 care, as well as specialist equipment such as an assisted bed, bed lift and wheelchair. There also could be a necessary transfer to the USA for further treatment, with all medical costs currently being absorbed by his family.

A number of people from The Welsh-Italian community, coordinated by Mark Tambini and Alessandro Carpanini, have decided to pool efforts together to help contribute to the ever expanding medical outlay. During the course of the year they plan to participate in a number of different events that will include Velothon Wales and the Cardiff Half Marathon (with more to be added to the events section on this fundraising page).

Their initial target is £1000.

As you can appreciate any financial support offered would be greatly appreciated, and if you feel you wish to contribute we know Walter and his family would be very grateful.
